I'm regrettably putting my 34 Ford rat rod up for sale or trade. I'm moving and can only keep one if my rats, and the Mercury isn't going anywhere. I'm mainly looking for trades for a car I can carry my daughter in. I like anything rear wheel drive, manual, turbo and diesel. A combo of those things is a plus. Ideally I'd like to find a 335d, M5, or a 4 door diesel truck, but I'm into just about anything. I can trade down if you have cash. I could add cash or more vehicles for the right trade (I have a 540i/6 speed, a 2000 12v swapped Cummins 5 speed quad cab with a big turbo, a 91 Camaro RS, and an 82 Datsun 280zx. I can also get my hands on a clean lowered 99 328i or 91 Civic rt4wd.)
On with the program.
The truck cab, bed, hood, and frame are all original. The radiator shroud I an uncertain as it has been painted. The frame was painted black a few years ago.
The motor is a 1972 Chevelle 4 barrel small block Chevy with a serpentine belt conversion, 4 barrel Carter carb, Edelbrock performer intake, and zoomie headers. She has some miles on her.
I have a 4 barrel Mopar 383 and 727 trans I was planning on putting in the truck that could go with. Or I could put it in for extra.
The transmission is a Turbo 400 (I have a built 383 stroker that was in front of it) that has a fresh rebuild 2 years ago along with a 2500 stall converter, shift kit, and a long Lokar shifter.
The rear end I believe is out of an early 90s S10 but honestly am not certain. I have a Ford 9 inch if wanted.
It has power brakes with discs in front (not sure what the master cylinder or calipers/rotors are from, looks like S10 as well) and power steering with a rack from what I believe is an 87 Ford Aerostar. Steering column from a mid 80s g-body.
The radiator is a newer 3 core from a swap meet vendor.
The front wheels are ford 15 inch steelies, one tire has good tread, the other doesn't. It could use an alignment I suppose haha. The rear wheels are Kragers I believe, but forget what style, and are wrapped with some awesome Widetrack Super 60 radials from that 70s that are in great shape.
The interior is all done in soft leopard print and vinyl. Very retro and awesome.
She runs good, shifts good, and drives like an old truck. There's literally nothing like hopping in, firing it up, cracking open that windshield and just cruising around. The truck is light so its quick even with a mostly stock 350. Its not perfect, its a rat rod in its true definition. I love this truck and want it to go to a good home. Would be a great father son project if you wanted to go for more power. I daily drive it in the summer and put upwards of 5,000 miles on it a year driving to shows or wherever I need to go.
